Description

The SETTANTA Pipeliner is a specialized excavator platform developed in collaboration with LaValley Industries, integrating the DECKHAND® pipe handling system for full-service pipeline operations. With a liftable cab, variable-width undercarriage, and modular arms, it offers superior maneuverability and control over pipe handling tasks across rail, truck, and yard loading contexts.

Built on a compact 33-ton platform that delivers lifting performance comparable to a 45-ton machine, the SETTANTA Pipeliner integrates the DECKHAND system into a modular boom and stick architecture designed for pipeline construction environments.

At its core is Laurini’s Hydraulic Quick Coupling System (HQCS), enabling fully automatic electronic and hydraulic connection of interchangeable front-end configurations directly from the cab. The Pipeliner configuration features a modular quick coupler optimized for DECKHAND integration, providing precise 360° load control, enhanced safety, and improved productivity during pipe yard operations, loading and unloading of trucks and railcars, and right-of-way handling.

Key performance features include:

• Hydraulic variable-width undercarriage that expands from a 2.5 m transport width to 3.7 m in operation for stability without special transport permits

• Hydraulically elevated cab rising up to 5 ft for superior visibility

• Compact chassis delivering up to 25% more lifting capacity than similarly sized excavators

• Powered by a 350 HP Scania DC09 engine paired with an advanced hydraulic system, ensuring consistent torque, lift, and control under demanding pipeline conditions

LaValley Industries is the exclusive SETTANTA Pipeliner dealer for North America.

DECKHAND HP Pipe Handler

DECKHAND HP Pipe Handler

LaValley Industries

A powerful DECKHAND® model that delivers enhanced lifting capacity and flexibility in both horizontal and vertical applications. It handles heavier or specialized material handling tasks while maintaining the core safety and control features operators expect. The DECKHAND system is a modular design that consists of a main head unit that works in tandem with interchangeable arm attachments. The head unit mounts to any brand of excavator; the excavator’s auxiliary hydraulics then safely and efficiently power the system. Interchangeable arms are used to pick up pipe, poles, casings, or road mats and securely lift, lower, rotate, and tilt the load under the total control of the operator inside the excavator cab. DECKHAND Arms: • Pipe Arm - Handles pipe on and off trailers, rail cars, or pipe racks without disturbing adjacent pipe. Does not damage coatings. Available in individual pipe diameter sizes, in addition to an interchangeable style for small diameters and flexible materials. • Utility Arm - Handles pipe, poles, I-beams, and casings in all weather conditions. Fast and efficient in vertical applications such as utility pole installation. • Mat Arm - Designed to handle and position wood or composite road or swamp mats using interchangeable tines to adjust to different mat widths. • Directional Drilling Arm - Handles drill rod or uncoated pipe on and off trailers, rail cards, or pipe racks without disturbing adjacent pipe. • Roller Arm - Handles utility poles and pipe with the ability to rotate material in place for precise alignment during installation.

Tunnel Excavators

Tunnel Excavators

Schöller Special Machines

The current product range comprises five crawler tunnel excavators with an operating weight of seven thru 47 tons as well as one wheeled tunnel excavator with an operating weight of 20 tons. All tunnel excavator models are based on trusted and reliable Volvo basic machines and are equipped with diesel drive as standard; optionally, they are also available with an emission-free electric drive. The compact excavators have a short tail-swing and operate with high efficiency; therefore, they are ideally suited for small to large tunnel cross-sections. Due to the modular built of the boom equipment, they can be adapted to different tunnel heights, giving them maximum flexibility. The high hydraulic output of the Volvo machines allows operation of efficient attachment tools, like hydraulic hammers, rock cutters, demolition shears, to name only a few, These can be changed quickly with quick-change devices.
